Job Description

Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations, capturing high-quality images for interpretation by physicians. Prepares patients, explains procedures, and ensures their safety and comfort. Maintains and operates ultrasound equipment, records findings accurately, and collaborates with the healthcare team to support diagnosis and patient care. Adheres to departmental protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide range of ultrasound examinations according to American Hospital Dubai and Medical Imaging Department guidelines, including OB/GYN, abdominal, small parts, vascular, neonatal, musculoskeletal, and interventional procedures.
  • Prepares and positions patients, explains procedures, and ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
  • Schedules and prioritizes patients, including critical and emergency cases, in coordination with radiologists and clinical teams.
  • Maintains accurate records and documents findings clearly for physician review and follow-up.
  • Conducts regular safety checks on ultrasound equipment and ensures compliance with departmental safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Assists in investigating incidents, accidents, and patient complaints, taking corrective actions as required.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement initiatives, staff education programs, and unit projects to enhance service standards.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure procedural requirements are met efficiently.
  • Maintains the ultrasound suite in a clean, organized, and safe condition to support effective operations.

Skill & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Sonography, Medical Imaging, or Radiography or an Associate Degree/Diploma in Ultrasound with appropriate registration, certification, or accreditation as a Radiographer/Sonographer.
  • Active home country registration.
  • Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license.
  • Professional Experience & Skills:
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Understanding of radiation, magnetic safety, and protection measures.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) standards.
  • Awareness of Middle Eastern culture and customs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, assess patient needs, monitor, and provide quality care.
  • Maintains high accuracy in patient positioning and ultrasound techniques.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
