Job Description

The Sales Team Leader manages sales operations to meet targets and maximize profitability. The role oversees product selection and pricing for the local market, works closely with store and logistics teams, and supports sustainability initiatives aligned with IKEA’s strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all sales and product range processes follow IKEA Concept Documentation across stores.
  • Define the product range for Showroom and Markethall in the sales area and support consistent availability in all stores.
  • Work with shopkeepers to select suppliers, manage contracts, and achieve economies of scale.
  • Improve the competitiveness of IKEA’s product range by implementing range strategies and guidelines.
  • Drive sales performance and long-term profit by applying IKEA’s Sales & Range methods.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics team to align sales forecasts with actual sales patterns for efficient goods flow.
  • Develop and implement a clear Sales & Range action plan for the store.
  • Ensure product availability for marketing activities and commercial calendar events in coordination with Logistics.
  • Support stores by creating buying guides for complex product series.
  • Maintain communication with IKEA range distributors regarding product range updates and the annual cycle.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of the local home furnishings market, including trends, competitors, and customer preferences.
  • Track and report KPIs to the Sales & Range Manager and store shopkeepers. Support stores in conducting competitor analysis regularly.
  • Lead and coach the Sales team to ensure understanding of the IKEA Concept, provide on-the-job guidance, and support professional growth.
  • Promote a strong IKEA culture, valuing diversity and creating a positive work environment.
  • Adapt global and country strategies locally to contribute to IKEA’s business goals and People & Planet Positive initiatives.
  • Support sustainability initiatives by providing information, best practices, tools, and methods to relevant teams.
  • Document and evaluate initiatives to capture learning, share insights, and drive continuous improvement.

Skill & Experience

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Commercial awareness and a strong focus on customer service.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of retail experience, preferably with IKEA or in home furnishings.
  • Genuine interest in home furnishings and providing excellent customer service.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
  • Good numerical skills for tasks such as gross margin calculations.
