Job Description

A Station Master oversees the daily operations of a railway station, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely train movements. They manage station staff, coordinate passenger services, enforce safety and security protocols, and handle emergencies. The role involves monitoring schedules, maintaining records, and delivering high-quality service while ensuring compliance with railway regulations and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a team of station staff, including customer service personnel, station hosts, and support staff, ensuring their work meets operational standards.
  • Oversee daily station operations, including ticketing, boarding, and assisting passengers, to maintain safe and smooth service.
  • Work closely with train operators, station staff, and security personnel to ensure timely train arrivals and departures.
  • Ensure all station areas—waiting halls, ticket counters, retail spaces, lounges, restrooms, prayer rooms, and back-of-house facilities—are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Keep accurate records of station activities and maintain compliance with railway policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and address customer service issues, providing guidance and support to staff to maintain a high level of service.

Skill & Experience

  • Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in passenger railways, transport operations, or customer service, with proven growth in responsibility.
  • Good leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist passengers, handle inquiries, and resolve complaints professionally and politely.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm and composed in stressful or time-sensitive situations.
