Job Description
In this role, you will lead a team of Material Planners to manage and coordinate materials requirements for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, cabin standards, and initial spares provisioning for a specific aircraft type in the Qatar Airways fleet. You will also oversee materials planning for modifications, reconfigurations, ad-hoc maintenance, and other special departmental projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all float review recommendations are backed by Poisson distribution calculations or provide proper justification for tools.
- Actively manage and resolve open IFE, cabin maintenance, and deferred defects to reduce backlog.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to identify slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete, or surplus materials for sale, loan, or exchange.
- Maintain data accuracy and optimize inventory by verifying interchangeable part numbers using official manufacturer documentation.
- Supervise planning for engineering orders, special work cards, component modifications, and cabin surveys.
Skill & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in Material Planning within an airline, MRO, or supply chain environment
- Skilled in forecasting rotables, repairables, and consumables based on fleet utilization and maintenance schedules
- Strong understanding of inventory control, optimization, and technical publications interpretation
- Proficient in computerized inventory systems with strong data analysis abilities
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Able to work independently, managing multiple time-sensitive tasks and priorities
- Experienced in collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
