Job Description

An Enterprise Azure Data Architect will design, implement, and manage scalable data solutions on the Azure platform. The role involves defining data architecture standards, optimizing cloud data pipelines, ensuring security and compliance, and enabling analytics and business intelligence. This position works closely with engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver reliable, high-performance enterprise data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture blueprint, including conceptual, logical, and physical models
  • Design and guide implementation of Azure-based data platforms, including Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, ADF, Azure SQL, and Power BI
  • Establish standards and best practices for data modeling, integration (ETL/ELT), data quality, metadata, and master data management
  • Ensure data security, governance, and regulatory compliance in collaboration with InfoSec and business teams
  • Optimize data platforms for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Partner with product, business, and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable data and analytics solutions
  • Mentor data engineers and architects, and actively contribute to architecture review and data governance forums

Skill & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in data architecture, including enterprise-scale data platforms in complex environments
  • Hands-on expertise with the Azure data stack, including Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Power BI (or similar tools)
  • Strong understanding of big data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) and modern data warehousing/lakehouse concepts
  • Deep knowledge of data security, privacy, and governance best practices
  • Experience in retail or e-commerce environments is a plus
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
