Job Description
The OCC Duty Manager oversees and coordinates multiple operational teams to ensure the smooth running of the Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC) during their shift. They monitor flight status, spot potential disruptions, implement contingency plans, and make decisions to maintain operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness across a multi-hub, multi-airline network.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee OCC operations for flights during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth, efficient execution of the daily flight schedule.
- Monitor flight status and operational data to identify potential delays, disruptions, or cancellations, and implement contingency plans.
- Manage flight schedules, including rerouting, rescheduling, and cancellations, balancing operational and commercial considerations.
- Coordinate with IOCC management, airport authorities, air traffic control, and ground handling teams to resolve issues and maintain operational flow.
- Lead responses to emergencies, incidents, and accidents, ensuring safety and swift resolution while reporting to management.
- Allocate resources, including aircraft, crew, and ground equipment, to optimize efficiency and control costs.
- Analyze operational trends and suggest improvements to processes, fuel usage, and flight efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, disruptions, and decisions for compliance and future review.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to team members, supporting career development and building a committed, performance-focused team.
Skill & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, engineering, aviation operations, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in airline operations, including at least 3 years in a management role within multi-hub, multi-airline environments.
- Knowledge of emergency response, incident, and accident management procedures.
- Understanding of meteorology and ability to interpret weather forecasts for operational decisions.
- Familiarity with navigational systems, route planning, and aviation communication technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and aviation software, including crew management and flight planning tools.
- In-depth knowledge of national and international aviation regulations for safety, compliance, and multi-hub operations.
- Understanding of aviation communication protocols with air traffic control, ground services, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of crisis management, decision-making frameworks, and analytical tools for time-sensitive situations.
- Familiarity with global geography, airspace structures, airport infrastructure, and overall airline operations, including flight planning, scheduling, crew management, and aircraft performance.
- Ability to identify operational risks and implement strategies to mitigate them proactively.
