Job Description
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for defining and implementing enterprise-wide data management practices. This role establishes governance frameworks, enforces data standards, and drives continuous improvements in data quality and stewardship. Operating within the Al-Futtaim Global Technology & Digital Platform (GTDP), the position collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to ensure data is properly managed, secured, and leveraged to deliver business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution and continuous improvement of the enterprise Data Management Strategy.
- Develop and maintain Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and data ownership models.
- Implement and manage the Data Stewardship model, defining roles and accountability across Line of Business (LoB) and IT functions.
- Facilitate Data Governance forums, working groups, and steering committees with Data Owners across LoBs.
- Collaborate with IT Business Partners and LoBs to implement Data Quality Management processes.
- Partner with Data Engineering & Operations to integrate data quality controls into pipelines and platforms.
- Ensure MDM solutions meet business requirements and governance standards.
- Align data governance priorities with program and project pipelines in collaboration with IT Business Partners.
- Work with Data Privacy, Protection, and Information Security teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards.
- Ensure architecture decisions comply with data governance requirements.
- Maintain the data catalog, business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata management practices.
- Oversee governance processes including data classification, change management, compliance checks, and reporting.
- Monitor adherence to data policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Advocate for data governance and support organizational change initiatives.

- Ability to influence and drive change across business and IT functions.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional governance processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related IT roles.
- Deep understanding of data management areas, including Data Strategy, Data Governance & Stewardship, Data Quality, Master Data Management (MDM), and Metadata Management.
- Experience with Data Governance and Data Cataloguing tools such as Oval Edge, Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Talend, IBM Infosphere, or similar.
- Experience with Data Quality platforms such as SAP, Informatica, Ataccama, Syniti, or equivalent.
