Neurology Specialist

Job Description

The Specialist Physician works closely with the Consultant Physician to provide safe, effective, and patient-focused care within the department. The role includes assessing and managing complex medical conditions, planning and reviewing treatment, working with other healthcare professionals, and supporting the guidance and development of junior doctors.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine patients thoroughly, review their medical history, request and interpret tests, and develop suitable treatment plans for conditions within the specialty.
•  Maintain accurate, clear, and timely medical records in line with legal and professional standards.
•  Explain diagnoses, treatment options, and procedures to patients and their families with care and clarity, and obtain informed consent when required.
•  Prescribe medications, provide appropriate therapies, and carry out required procedures or surgeries related to the specialty.
• Work closely with other doctors, departments, and support services to ensure complete and coordinated patient care.
• Support, guide, and supervise junior doctors, residents, and medical students.
•  Take part in audits, quality improvement projects, and research to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes.
• Follow all hospital policies, departmental rules, safety standards, and infection control requirements.

Skill & Experience

• MBBS or equivalent qualification from a recognized medical university.
• Completion of an approved residency or fellowship program in the relevant specialty.
• Minimum of two to three years of clinical experience after specialization, based on DOH and hospital requirements.
• Valid DOH Abu Dhabi license or eligibility letter to practice in Abu Dhabi.
• Current license from the most recent country of practice.
• Certificate of Good Standing from the relevant licensing authority.
• Successful completion of the DOH licensing examination, including oral assessment if required.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous professional development.
• Fluency in English and Arabic; additional languages are an advantage.
