Job Description
The Chief Engineer – Roads Maintenance leads the planning, execution, and supervision of road maintenance operations to ensure safe, durable, and efficient road networks. The role oversees technical standards, manages maintenance teams, monitors contractor performance, and implements preventive and corrective maintenance strategies. Works closely with stakeholders to optimize road infrastructure performance while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate and coordinate with service authorities, investment groups, and stakeholders on technical and maintenance matters
- Participate in the preparation, review, and monitoring of departmental budgets
- Supervise outsourced maintenance contracts, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and timelines
- Review, evaluate, and recommend approval of monthly payment certificates for completed maintenance works
- Execute, prepare, and report on works, tasks, and projects within the section’s scope of responsibilities
- Attend project handover sessions, prepare snag lists, and provide technical comments on completed works
- Supervise the preparation of technical reports as requested by management
- Follow up on materials and resources required for maintenance projects to ensure timely availability
- Prepare monthly payment requests to service authorities on behalf of the Department Manager
- Attend technical meetings with management and provide necessary technical input
- Receive, review, and assess service requests and complaints, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken
Skill & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from a recognized university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in road maintenance, infrastructure management, or civil/transportation engineering projects
- Or a Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from a recognized university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience
- Strong knowledge of road maintenance techniques, standards, and safety regulations
- Proven experience supervising maintenance contracts, managing technical teams, and coordinating with external stakeholders
- Familiarity with budgeting, resource planning, and reporting in large-scale infrastructure projects
- Excellent problem-solving, technical analysis, and communication skills
