Job Description
The role is suited for dedicated and proactive Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) professionals who are committed to ensuring high standards of safety and compliance. As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, the responsibility is to lead and oversee EHS programs, ensuring all operations meet corporate and local regulations, maintain a safe work environment, and promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and food safety manuals, reviewing them annually or sooner as required
- Lead or participate in EHS, HACCP, ISO, Sustainability, and OHSMS compliance audits, providing guidance on conformance and corrective actions
- Establish and monitor audit requirements to ensure compliance with food safety, occupational safety, and environmental regulations; evaluate trends, communicate results, and implement action plans
- Participate in incident investigations, document root causes, communicate findings, and establish corrective measures to prevent recurrence
- Assess employee training needs, develop training materials, and conduct programs to ensure staff awareness and compliance with EHS and food safety standards
- Ensure suppliers and contractors comply with EHS and food safety requirements through audits and regular communication
- Monitor changes in local Sustainability, Health and Safety, and Food Safety regulations, updating internal procedures, policies, and forms accordingly
- Conduct regular EHS and food safety inspections in the workplace and implement corrective actions as required
- Manage and control all EHS and food safety documents, including manuals, policies, procedures, logs, and reports
- Collaborate with departments to implement corporate social responsibility initiatives that benefit the community and environment
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of hotel-specific sustainability programs, such as Rotana Earth
- Operate safely and responsibly to protect the health and safety of guests and employees while conserving and protecting the environment
- Ensure full compliance with all hotel environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures
Skill & Experience
- College or university degree, preferably in Health, Hygiene, Quality Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, with prior experience in the Middle East preferred
- Proficient in computer use, including standard office software and relevant EHS or quality management systems
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English, with additional proficiency in Arabic
- Strong attention to detail and ability to implement and monitor health, safety, and quality standards effectively
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across departments to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
