Job Description
The post holder will actively collaborate with all members of the nursing team, demonstrating commitment to the NMC Nursing Strategy. They will ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality care at all times, addressing the needs of patients and their families, maintaining professional standards, supporting team development, and contributing to a positive, patient-centered care environment consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about health conditions, and offer advice and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Assess and identify patients’ needs, implement and monitor medical plans and treatments, and work collaboratively with physicians, allied health professionals, and other team members across care settings.
- Conduct systematic patient assessments and re-assessments, collecting relevant health data and analyzing it to determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses and issues.
- Define expected outcomes for patient care and create, implement, and evaluate care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team, the patient, and family members.
- Record vital signs, recognize abnormalities, and escalate issues as necessary.
- Maintain and update technical and clinical nursing skills, employing strategies to promote patient health and safety.
- Understand diagnostic tests and laboratory examinations and interpret results as relevant to patient care.
- Perform essential life support per regulatory requirements, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation.
- Prepare patients for medical examinations and treatments, administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and monitor for side effects or reactions.
- Provide wound care management and assist in invasive or non-invasive medical procedures as needed.
- Facilitate safe patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and IV therapies following clinic protocols.
- Monitor and respond appropriately to patient phone calls, messages, and triage concerns.
- Ensure adherence to infection control standards, patient safety practices, and regulatory requirements at all times.
Skill & Experience
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse with the relevant health regulatory authority, meeting all required qualifications and experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Responsible for maintaining own professional re-licensure.
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider card.
- Willingness to work across departments as needed.
- Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, including proficiency in using electronic medical record systems for clinical documentation.
