Job Description

The Data Scientist role at Al-Futtaim focuses on creating and deploying analytics and generative AI solutions that can be used across the business. The aim of the role is to improve insights, recommendations, and decision-making on enterprise platforms. Success in this position depends on building machine learning and GenAI models that are scalable, dependable, and aligned with company requirements for governance, security, and compliance. The role works closely with different teams to deliver practical, data-driven outcomes that support business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with business and product teams to understand problems and turn them into data-driven solutions with clear results.
• Explore and prepare large datasets, create useful features, and build models that can be tested and improved over time.
• Develop models that explain what is happening, predict future outcomes, and support better decision-making while staying aligned with business goals.
• Agree on success measures with stakeholders and ensure insights can be acted on in real business scenarios.
• Use generative AI tools to support data science work such as summarizing data, grouping information, generating insights, and assisting decision-making.
• Build solutions that connect language models with company data so outputs are accurate and based on trusted information.
• Review and assess generative AI results using both data-based measures and practical feedback to ensure quality and relevance.
• Work with other teams to deliver AI-supported analytical tools that are easy to understand and explain.
• Deploy models into production using standard practices for version control, monitoring, and regular updates.
• Partner with data engineering and cloud teams to create systems that are scalable, secure, and reliable.
• Track model behavior over time, identify performance issues or data changes, and improve solutions based on usage.
• Make sure all solutions follow company standards for security, compliance, and responsible use of AI.
• Define and monitor performance indicators such as accuracy, stability, response time, bias, and business impact.
• Run tests and phased releases to improve models, prompts, and data retrieval methods.
• Continuously refine solutions using feedback, testing, and changing business needs.

Skill & Experience

• Solid knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and practical data science techniques.
• Strong working experience with Python, SQL, and Spark for data analysis and building data pipelines.
• Experience using Databricks to develop, test, and deploy data science and generative AI solutions.
• Familiarity with production practices such as model version control, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Over eight years of professional experience in data science or AI-focused roles, delivering machine learning models to production.
• Proven background in building different types of models, including classification, clustering, and time-based forecasting.
• More than six years of hands-on work in feature creation, model testing, and performance tuning.
• At least four years of experience working with text-based systems such as document analysis, text classification, and meaning-based modeling.
• Experience delivering generative or conversational AI solutions into live environments, including working with large language models and company data.
