Repairs Controller
Job Description
Plan and manage complete processes for aircraft component repair and vendor coordination, ensuring timely and cost-effective support for maintenance. Oversee in-house capabilities and develop alternative repair and supply sources to improve supply chain efficiency and control costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, assess, and act on repair quotations for aircraft components according to contracts or Product Support Agreements (SSC/PSAA).
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and effective system use.
- Manage unserviceable components sent to external repair stations or vendors for repair and overhaul.
- Organize the repair process to ensure safe, efficient use of space, time, and packing standards for spares.
- Monitor and control repair costs, challenging vendors to achieve cost efficiency.
- Oversee in-house repair capabilities, coordinating with workshops, Maintenance Planning, Procurement, and Technical Services to reduce repair time and cost.
- Coordinate with Engineering Procurement on contracts nearing expiry or without agreements; assist in evaluating new repair shops.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in repair and procurement processes.
- Ensure timely dispatch of spares to meet Turn Around Time (TAT) targets.
- Manage shipping and logistics of aircraft parts, engines, and APUs to suppliers.
- Oversee component removal schedules and ensure availability and timely return of unserviceable parts.
- Establish KPIs for repair areas and monitor performance with vendors weekly/monthly.
- Train and develop team members, building necessary skills.
- Implement daily review processes for nil-stock components to prioritize urgent repairs and avoid AOG situations.
- Maintain daily reporting of unserviceable spares awaiting disposition and ensure proper action for disposal per SOP.
Skill & Experience
- Degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering, LAME, or Technical Diploma with 7+ years’ relevant experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Strong experience in supplier performance management, KPI setting, and service monitoring tools.
- Skilled in interpreting repair contracts, IPCs, CMMs, and shop reports; capable of conducting technical reviews.
- Knowledge of airworthiness regulations (GCAA/FAA/EASA) and airline maintenance operations.
- Experienced with AMOS and component repair processes.
- Able to work in rotating shifts.
- Minimum 3 years in a similar component repair role within aviation; low-cost airline experience is a plus.
- Expertise in procurement, inventory systems, rotables pool management, TAT, and stock maintenance.
- Strong experience managing vendor relationships, technical contracts, and SLAs.
- Skilled in cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Capable of handling high workloads, ad-hoc scenarios, and strict adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
