Job Description
Lead and oversee the internal audit function, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and risk management standards. Evaluate business processes, financial controls, and operational effectiveness, provide actionable insights, and advise senior management and the board. Drive continuous improvement, safeguard assets, and support organizational governance and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the annual and multi-year risk-based Internal Audit Plan covering financial, operational, compliance, technology, and strategic risks.
- Continuously review and update the enterprise-wide audit universe to align with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks.
- Monitor the organization’s risk profile, identify emerging and thematic risks, and assess potential business impacts.
- Oversee audit execution by allocating resources with the right skills and reviewing work for quality, consistency, and compliance with audit standards.
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and control weaknesses, recommending practical solutions to improve controls and operational efficiency.
- Track management action plans, focusing on high-risk issues, and escalate delays or ineffective remediation as needed.
- Build strong relationships with senior management and key stakeholders while maintaining independence and professional skepticism.
- Provide insights on process improvements, risk mitigation, and governance enhancements to add value to the organization.
- Prepare and present clear audit reports and dashboards to senior management and the Audit Committee.
- Attend Audit Committee and leadership meetings to summarize key audit findings, trends, and thematic issues.
Skill & Experience
- Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
- 10–12 years of progressive experience in Internal Audit, risk, or consulting, with significant exposure to Retail, Supply Chain, E-commerce, or technology-focused organizations.
- Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, CA, ACCA, CISA, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of CMA guidelines, especially regarding quarterly and annual reporting, disclosures, and governance requirements for the Audit Committee and Board.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide or multi-business audits in complex, high-growth, and high-volume environments.
- Clear understanding of corporate governance principles, Board and Audit Committee expectations, and enterprise risk management frameworks.
- Ability to communicate complex risk issues effectively to senior executives and Board members.
- Skilled in managing and developing high-performing audit teams and engaging with senior stakeholders.
- High standards of integrity, independence, and professional judgment, with the confidence to challenge management when needed.
- Capable of operating independently under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and balancing discipline with flexibility and professionalism.
